House Bill 323 – Meningococcal and Shingles Vaccines

House Bill 323 became law on July 1, 2014 as Chapter 2014-113, Laws of Florida. This law amended section 465.189, F.S., authorizing pharmacists to administer meningococcal and shingles vaccines under certain circumstances.

On April 12, 2018, amended rule 64B16-27.630, FAC, will become effective adding the Zoster Vaccine Recombinant, Adjuvanted to the immunizations or vaccines which may be administered by a Florida licensed pharmacist. Zoster Vaccine Recombinant, Adjuvanted is the proper name of the Shingrix® vaccine developed by GlaxoSmithKline.1 Shingrix® has been recommended by the CDC, and has been added to the Adult Immunization Schedule, effective February 2018. 2
